By the numbers

September 28, 2007

Look, I don’t want to brag or anything, but instead - I believe a debt of gratitude is in order. A few highlights from this week:

  1. Dads on Fire remains in the Top 100 Kids & Family podcasts on iTunes and was as high as 62
  2. GO-TO-GUIDES FOR GUYS: ABCs for Expectant DADS hits #19 on Amazon in Fatherhood books
  3. Show #6: What is Cheating goes over 4,000 downloads
  4. More than 1600 votes for our next show

A sincere thanks from both of us. We’re just getting started, but we know the momentum will continue and good things are on the way!

And the Winner Is…

September 28, 2007

The next Dads on Fire live Internet broadcast will take place on Monday, October 1 - 9:00 PM (Pacific).

More than 1600 people voted in our poll to determine our next topic and the winner is:  Is It Possible to be a Hip Parent?  Personally?  I think every single time you tell your kid “no” - you lose hip points.  By the time the kid is five - you’re “hip to be square” at best.

What kinds of challenges should the show have?

September 26, 2007

From E! Entertainment Online:

“Reality guru Mark Burnett is becoming something of a game show expert. Per Variety, the producer is developing a new quiz show for NBC, titled My Dad Is Better than Your Dad, in which opposing fathers lead their families through a series of stunt-driven challenges.”

Unless the “challenges” involve changing diapers, stopping a screaming baby from crying, packing a small car with a family of five’s luggage, getting through an airport on time, making teenage kids respect him, or perhaps hiring a hot nanny with the wife’s approval…I’m not all that interested. It’s just not realistic.

Overheard at the airport

September 25, 2007

Self-important biz guy #1: That’s what I’m talking about. Just once I’d like to date someone really stacked.
Self-important biz guy #2: I did that. An Italian ball-buster.

#1: Just once I’d like to have my hands on those. There’s a lot of potential there.
#2: Yeah. I just let her make all the big decisions. That’s fine, I say, whatever you want. Where’s my cheesesteak.

#1: That’s the secret.
#2: Yeah, just let them think they’re getting what they want.

You just know that #1 NEVER gets laid. And, #2’s wife has his balls in a jar on top of the ‘fridge. I just love when men get together and act like this. It’s almost like you have to try to be this much of a loser. (And take off your freakin’ sunglasses. You’re in an airport terminal, dickhead.)

Listener’s Choice: What Should We Discuss Next?

September 24, 2007

Some might say that offering our ever-growing audience the opportunity to vote for our next topic is a cop-out. You might think this is just a stunt to cover for the fact that Wank and I can’t come to a consensus. Well, yeah. Duh. That’s part of it. We’re also curious about the direction that you’d take us. Plus, we’re whores to the audience. We just want to give you want you want. (Mostly, cuz we know you so rarely get what you want!)

Speak now or forever hold Wank’s piece.

A New Twist on “The Brady Bunch”

September 24, 2007

Rumor has it that in her upcoming autobiography, Maureen McCormack (Marcia) had a few lesbian encounters with Eve Plumb (Jan) on the set of “The Brady Bunch.”  Perhaps, the famous “Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!” was actually an edited version of “Oh Marcia!  Oh Marcia!  Oh Marcia!”

Now, what does this have to do with Dads on Fire and our next show (TBD)?  That’s right.  Absolutely nothing.  Oh, and absolutely everything.

Dads on Fire 06: What is Cheating

What is cheating? Men spreading their seed. Emotional vs. Physical relationships. Liars are liars are liars are liars. Men can’t handle lesbian sex!

Wank peppers Todd with a series of potential cheating scenarios including about whether or not its cheating to place one’s penis in an ear (presumably a women’s ear). Okay, in all seriousness, this show may have toed the line of providing actual, real, dare we say educational information. So, perhaps we need to apologize in advance.

Cindy English of Our Cheating Ways may have provided the excuse for men to get off the hook! She tells some good stories about her own life and her ex-husband’s silly mistake! Then we have Elizabeth Williams, APRN (that’s Advance Practice Registered Nurse for you uneducated people) to tell it more like it is. (Specifically that men can’t handle watching women together cuz the sex is too intense. Really, she said that. You’ll have to listen to learn more about it.)

No real surprise, but talk to each other, people!

Time to talk cheating!

And now the show you’ve all been waiting for!  What is Cheating?  Tonight - 9:00 PM Pacific.  Listen live!

A woman scorned

The other side of cheating - the unmarried cheater.

September 18, 2007

Most of us can agree that the married cheater is scum. But what about the single dude who hooks us with the obviously married woman? I have this friend (no, that’s not “friend” in quotes meaning it’s really me and I’m trying to get some guilt off my chest)… who has hooked up with a few married women. The stories, by the way, are fantastic and always result in a round of high fives (hmmm, maybe a Penthouse Letters style page is in order on the site so you all can enjoy the tales of adultery).

Stories aside, does he have some moral responsibility to hold back and pick up someone his own kind? Or does the responsibility weigh solely on the shoulders of the married?

One interesting tidbit about these women is that they all seem to be dissatisfied with their current marriage. The husbands seems to be duds who would rather drive a golf ball than drive their wife. Maybe these women deserve a little something on the side. And my friend seems to be up for that task. I say high fives all around.
